🎓 Are We Really Educated… or Just Qualified?

Think about it.
We spend almost our entire childhood being told to study hard, score well, get a degree, and get a good job.
And we do exactly that.
But after years of education, many of us still don’t know how to manage money, deal with rejection, communicate confidently, make difficult decisions, handle failure, or simply understand ourselves.
So here’s an uncomfortable question:

Did education prepare us for life—or just for exams?

From a very young age, the race begins.
Good marks → Good college → Good degree → Good job → Successful life.
Sounds perfect, right?
But real life doesn’t always follow that formula.
You can be a university topper and still struggle to find a job.
You can have multiple degrees and still lack confidence.
You can have an impressive CV and still not know what you actually want from life.
And you can have an ordinary academic record but become incredibly successful because you learned how to adapt, communicate, take risks, and keep going.
Maybe marks are important.
But they are not the whole story.

🎓 A Degree Says What You Studied.
Your Life Shows What You Learned.

A degree can tell me that you studied engineering, commerce, psychology, law, or something else.
But it doesn’t tell me:
Can you handle failure?
Can you communicate with people?
Can you manage your money?
Can you think independently?
Can you recognize misinformation?
Can you solve problems?
Can you make decisions under pressure?
Can you learn something completely new?
These are also forms of education.
Yet we rarely get marks for them.

📱 And Then Came Social Media…

There’s another problem our generation faces.
We open Instagram and see someone getting a government job.
Someone launching a business.
Someone travelling the world.
Someone buying a house.
Someone getting married.
Someone becoming financially independent at 23.
And suddenly we look at our own lives and think:

“Am I behind?”
But remember:
You’re comparing your behind-the-scenes with someone else’s highlight reel.
Social media shows achievements.
It rarely shows the years of uncertainty, failure, debt, rejection, family problems, self-doubt, and hard work behind them.
Real education should teach us how to think for ourselves, not constantly compare ourselves with others.

So… Are We Educated or Just Qualified?
Maybe the answer is:
We need both.
Qualifications can open doors.
But what you do after those doors open depends on much more than your degree.
We need:
Knowledge + Skills + Curiosity + Critical Thinking + Emotional Intelligence + Experience
Because education shouldn’t simply make us employable.
It should make us capable.
Capable of thinking.
Capable of learning.
Capable of adapting.
Capable of making decisions.
Capable of handling life.
And capable of becoming a better version of ourselves.
